Australian Artists and the Sydney Opera House - Utzon Center 2012
On September 7, 2012 the Australian ambassador James Choi will declare the exhibition Austrialian Artists and the Sydney Opera House open at the Utzon Center in Aalborg. The exhibition will run through December 2, 2012.
The exhibition introduces a set of the most acknowledged Austrialian artists, who all found their inspiration in the geography and architecture of Jørn Utzon's famous Opera House in Sydney.
When the Opera House was finished in 1973, an optimism spread across the artistic scene in Sydney. Many of these artists is represented at the exhibition Australian Artists and the Sydney Opera House, which symbolically invites them on a journey to Jørn Utzon's hometown, Aalborg.
Most of the artists in this exhibition are included at large museums as Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New york and Tate Gallery in London, but it is an unique opportunity to view the pieces at one museum outside of Australia.
Furthermore, it is the first time that their work focusing on the Sydney Opera House can be experienced at a combined exhibition.
The premiere of this exhibition is in Aalborg 2012, but the Australian population might be able to experience the pieces during 2013, where the exhibition is expected to be published at Sydney Opera House during the 40th Anniversary.
