The smell of wooden fires, pine, cooked meat and baked goods was one of the sure signs that the Christmas preparations were in full swing in the kingdoms capital.
The King was actually right here. King Christian 3. celebrated Christmas regularly in his residential town of Nyborg. This is one of the reasons for holding the Christmas market the second weekend of December in the authentic atmosphere of old Nyborg. The Christmas lights cast a beautiful glow on the historical downtown, the shops, market stalls and the old merchant house, Mads Lerches Gård, while the Danish "æbleskiver" are cooking and the good Christmas beer is enjoyed.
