Copenhagen Puppet Festival
This year’s Copenhagen festival revolves around homelessness, culture clashes, surveillance and substance abuse in the Vesterbro area of Copenhagen.
Puppetry actually has a tradition of challenging the political agenda. The tradition will continue at the festival in Copenhagen in order for puppetry to be taken seriously. The social political subject, which one of the shows builds on, is Denmark’s first injection room in Vesterbro.
Globally, are people fleeing to new countries and cities. Unfortunately, some of them face a sad future as prostitutes or illegal homeless. Together with wealthy families, and hipsters, they are the streetscape of Vesterbro.
In collaboration with Paper Cinema (UK), Copenhagen Puppet Festival produces a modern puppetry for adults only, which will premiere at Bremen Teater. Right now, they are working on the idea of streaming the show, and then project it to Vesterbro’s urban spaces and on some of the city’s buildings.
