Whit Weekend: Thomas the Tank Engine
Most people are only familiar with him from television, books and toys, but you can meet the genuine, full-scale Thomas the Tank Engine in real-life at the Danish Railway Museum in Odense! The Danish Railway Museum is the only place in Scandinavia to be visited by Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas the Tank Engine will come to Odense during the 2016 Whit weekend. The event begins on Friday 13 May and lasts up to and including Monday 16 May. This will be Thomas’ ninth visit to the Danish Railway Museum. Each event has been a huge success with lots of visitors every time. Make a big mark in your calendar.
Hours of experiences
As in previous years, there is a packed programme of events every day during Thomas’ visit: Each morning at 9.15 am, the Fat Controller welcomes Thomas and his Danish friend Hansine, after which they are sent out to do the day’s work. And there is plenty that needs to be done. Thomas and Hansine both drive several trips with children and adults on the museum’s own railway track. Thomas also has to keep track of the mischievous goods vans, and it is necessary to have water and “liquorice” along the way. There are lots of other activities in other parts of the museum, too. You can play with Thomas toys, make drawings and play Thomas games. The mini-train runs all day long, and you can take a short ride through Odense on the splendid red antique omnibuses. All activities are free once you have paid the museum’s entrance fee.
