The recently held
AIBTM conference in Baltimore (US) saw
VisitDenmark and partners gain green recognition as the joint Scandinavian booth 441 received the
“Most Sustainable Booth Design Award” by AIBTM and Positive Impact, a non-profit organisation providing sustainability education to the event industry.
Together with its Nordic colleagues and partners, VisitDenmark’s sustainable efforts included the reuse of the booth’s materials as well as a minimization of power consumption and printing in order to reduce the booth’s carbon footprints. As a result, all key messages from the Scandinavian exhibitors were delivered in an environmentally friendly setting to professional Meeting Planners, Agents and media attending AIBTM. The award is a clear indication that the emphasis on sustainability at the booth was clearly communicated, well perceived and appreciated.
"Walk the talk"

When it comes to sustainability, the Danes prefer to “walk the talk”. Their continuous efforts to become more sustainable, including when doing business and staging meetings, conferences, etc., is very much an integrated part of the Danes’ daily lives. Designing “sustainable meetings” is therefore a natural part of their sustainable way of living and therefore also a key element when the Danes communicate with the professional Meetings Industry worldwide.
A few of many examples of how the Danes "do" sustainability include: Over 40% of all Copenhageners use their bicycles to work, 60% of all hotel rooms in the Danish capital
Copenhagen are certified green, and the unique Danish “
Meetovation” concept includes a green element as well. Just recently, CNN International’s Richard Quest also visited Copenhagen to do a documentary on how the city is on the forefront when it comes to sustainability measures of the future.
