Inauguration of Nordkraft, 1 September, Aalborg
Nordkraft opens its doors to the public starting with a Theatre and Cinema. In time, the former power station will offer activities ranging from theatre and music to cafés and restaurants, various sport activities and a brand new art museum right on the city's waterfront.

Copenhagen Architecture & Design Days, 2–6 Sept
Copenhagen is highly renowned for its fine examples of unique architecture and this festival, Cph ADD, celebrates  the finest of this city’s modern architecture and designs.

CO2penhagen, 4–6 September, Copenhagen
For the first time ever a festival is fuelled entirely by renewable energy sources! The goal is to visualize the knowledge already present at technical universities and spotlight businesses’ green products. All activities take place in a CO-neutral miniature society surrounded by art and music.   

Robot Festival, 10–12 September, Odense
The Robot Festival in the university city of Odense is an annual event that attracts playful, instructive and interactive robots from all over the world.   

Hans Christian Andersen Marathon, 20 Sept, Odense
Big, international city marathon in Odense on Funen with more than 3000 participants. The arrangement includes a Marathon race, an In-liner skaters race, a Wheelchair race, a Handbike race and 1/10 marathon for children.

Golden Days Biennale 2009, 11-18 September
Promoting the awareness of Copenhagen as a classical city of culture this festival is a biennale facilitating the marketing of the permanent historical collections and traditional events the capital has to offer. The overall theme in 2009 will be "the Body".

Exhibitions:

Kopenhagen Contemporary, 18-20 September
This NEW annual art event focuses on contemporary art. for three days, a fine selcetion of galleries, exhibition halls and art museums in the greater Copenhagen area will offer a wide range of free events to art-lovers. 

IOC Session and Congress, 1-9 October
All eyes are on Copenhagen when the Olympic city for the year 2016 is announced. The Session and Congress is taking place in early October!
 
Halloween in Tivoli, 9-18 October
During 10 days' in October you will be able to experience the magic world of Tivoli in autumn. All restaurants and amusements re-open, but this time its with all the familiar trimmings of halloween are there too; pumkins and  other crops of the season, carved jack-o'-lanterns, scarecrows and witches... 

Night of Culture, 9 October, CPH/AAL/AAR
On this particular evening - on the evening of the Danish school's autumn half-term - 100s of cultural institutions in the cities of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Horsens, Frederiksværk and Esbjerg open their doors to the public until 12 pm. Major museums, exhibition halls, churches, libraries, schools and a vast number of other interesting venues that are normally not open to the public are accessible with a Night of Culture (Kulturnatten) badge which gives free admission to all events and mostly free public transport too. 

The Music Harvest, 28 October – 1 Nov & 3–7 November
Since the first Music Harvest in 1985, this festival in Odense has presented contemporary music from the USA, the former USSR, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Finland, Poland, Lithuania the Baltic countries and Denmark.

Edvard Munch & Denmark, rest of 2009 - 3 Jan 2010, Charlottenlund 
This exhibition a the lovely Ordrupgaard art musem north of Copenhagen illustrates the influence Denmark had on Edvard Munch's artistic development. For Munch, Copenhagen was a bridge to the rest of Europe – a transit and a fugitive meeting place...
 
Re-Think, 31 October 2009 -until 5 April 2010
Re-think presents an exclusive selection of contemporary international artists who work in very varied mediums and whose concern are themes related to global climate change and the relationship between the individual and its surroundings.

CLIMATE - Denmark from Glaciers to Global Warming, 31 October 2009 – 7 March 2010 
New Exhibition at the National Museum in  Copenhagen.
International Days of Blues, 6–8 November, Odense
Odense International Days of Blues features local and international artists in one of Odense's small charming music stages called Magasinet.

Christmas in Tivoli, 20 Nov - 30 Dec, Copenhagen
Christmas in Tivoli presents all the delights of Christmas - past & present. Stroll through the miniature villages with stalls full of gifts and goodies. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the select restaurants, the many rides, games and shooting galleries open and the quirky village of 'Nissekøbing', a winter wonderland of 100s of mechanical pixies (in Danish 'nisser')...

Christmas in Den Gamle By, 21 Nov-30 Dec, Aarhus
Experience market stalls, historical shops, exhibitions, and Living History at the open air museum of "The Old Town" in the heart of Aarhus. Get a true Christmassy feeling, when a fine range of old Danish houses come alive with period-dressed personnel. The christmas Market is open every weekend.

World Standard Championships, 28 November, Aarhus 
In 2006, Århus hosted the World Standard Championships and this event was so successful that the International Dance Sport Federation has chosen Århus as host venue for these Championships again in 2009. Fifty of the world's best Standard dancers, and 4000 spectators, are expected for this event. 
 
Christmas Market in Aalborg, 28 Nov - 24 Dec, AAL
The annual Christmas Market will open at 6.00pm in the centre of Aalborg with a spectacle of colourful stalls, Christmas trees, lights and entertainment. It is then open every day until Christmas eve. 

The Arrival of Santa Claus, 29 November, Aalborg
Santa Claus arrives in Aalborg directly from Greenland! His ship moors alongside the harbour quay at 11.00am where thousands of children and adults wait to greet him. The Mayor of Aalborg officially welcomes Santa before they go for a ride in a sleigh around the city ending by Santa’s house on Gammeltorv.

Christmas Tables at Royal Copenhagen,
19 Nov. - 31 Dec.

One of the most charming recurring Christmas events in Copenhagen. Each year, thousands of visitors get inspired, amazed, shocked or astonished by the annual Christmas tables at Royal Copenhagen's flagship store on Amager Torv. And each year, there is a new theme with new tablelayers - well-known Danish personalities - who are given the opportunity to let themselves go wild in the abundance of the porcelain manufacturers products and to create their very own interpretation of a special theme. This year it is "The Nutcracker" and the decorators six actors and ballet dancers from The Royal Danish Theatre.

COP 15: United Nations Climate Change Conference, 7–18 December, Copenhagen
Denmark plays host to the United Nation Climate Change Conference 2009 (COP 15). 189 Ministers from all over the world are expected attend the conference in Copenhagen.

Christmas Market in Aalborg, until 24 Dec, Aalborg
The annual Christmas Market opens at 6.00pm  with a spectacle of colourful stalls, Christmas trees, lights and entertainment. Open every day until Christmas eve.

H.C.Andersen Christmas Market, 2 first weekends of December, Odense
The old part of Odense where Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home lies, forms the setting of a period christmas market with all the fun of the fair, illuminations, merry-go-round, and stalls selling goodies and presents.   

Santa Lucia festival of lights, 13 December, Malmo

This Swedish festival of lights helps to brighten up the long winter nights in December. It celebrates the life of a real saint, Lucia, who was known for her kindness and love and is celebrated all over Sweden, including Skaane -part of the cross-national (Danish-Swedish) Oresund Region.

Danish Portrait Artist Thomas Kluge at Kunsten, 5 Dec - 31 Jan 2010 
Kluge is the enfant terrible of Danish contemporary art. Known for painting in a 400-year-old style and portraying leading figures, he is pre-eminent at capturing a photographic similarity of his models such as HRH Danish Queen Margrethe II, Mr. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller and other prominent Danes.
