The pedestrian tunnel between Bredgade and the current Poppelalle was build in 1922. It replaced the former level-crossing keeper house which existed on the spot when the street was called Stauningvej, later Vestergade and finally renamed Poppelalle.
The tunnel is 46 meters long and about 2 meters tall.
In 2013 the tunnel was at the requst of several citizens and to the intervention of Skjern development forum, a local sponsor, financial contributions from Nordea and cultural interaction from a team of 10 students from the Danish handicraft school in Skjern led by teacher Anne Lindholm again decorated.
The decorated tunnel was inaugurated on 24. May 2013.
