The Randbøldal Museum
The Randbøldal Museum tells the story of the harnessing of water power: In the outdoor water exploratorium with 20 stations, children and simple souls can feel the power of the water and learn how to tame the water with the aid of different mills and sluices as in the old days. Everything in a fun and educational way.
The former storage building from 1918 now houses historic workshops for paper, textile and water power. The large loft room houses changing exhibitions.
The very scenic Randbøldal in the Vejle Ådal river valley is Denmark’s best shot at a mountain village. Vejle River and the many springs were the reason for the establishment of Engelsholm paper factory in 1732 and the small factory town that arose. In 1847, the production was reorganised to textile industry. The factory building later collapsed.
The mill-town heritage of the area is conveyed through models of the Engelsholm Paper Mill and Randbøldal Cloth Mill.
