Go on a treasure hunt and catch the spy on Anholt
Catch the spy on Anholt and solve the mystery of who informed on the English in 1811 – and find out where the spy is now. The treasure hunt ‘The English Spy’ brings Anholt's history to life in completely new ways.
Anholt Museum invites you on a spy hunt set 212 years ago, right in the middle of Anholt Town. In groups, you must solve puzzles and find your way around the town in pursuit of a sneaky spy who is providing the English occupying forces with information about Danish attack plans.
In 1811, Anholt was occupied by English soldiers, who converted the lighthouse into a fort, settled in the town and turned the church into a prison. In March of that year, Danish forces attempted a recapture, but were repelled in a bloody battle at the lighthouse.
The English were clearly aware of the attack – they had been warned. But by whom? It is your task to uncover the English spy so that the Danish navy might have another chance. ‘The English Spy’ is a historical treasure hunt with clues and puzzles scattered throughout the town.
You should expect to spend 1-1½ hours with your family, friends or whoever you choose to take with you on the spy hunt. Participants should preferably be over 10 years old and preferably older, and you will get the best experience if the group consists of between 3 and 6 people.
The treasure hunt is sold online for 300 Danish kroner, but is otherwise completely physical and without screens – and can be picked up at Brugsen on Anholt.
