Discover Viborg’s secrets

Wander through Viborg’s old streets, past historic buildings, and immerse yourself in the tales and stories that form the backdrop to a range of lively experiences around the town.

The event combines an atmospheric Halloween celebration with creative and cultural activities, inviting both children and adults to an evening filled with experiences, laughter and goosebumps.

From 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm, with a map in hand, you can set off on a journey of discovery and, amongst other things, meet the Dead Vikings, the Witch, Circus Stage Fright, the Culture School’s Secret and Henrik from Viborg Garden Machinery with his haunted garden tractor.

Parade, Ghost Train and Trick or Treat

And Viborg has some truly spectacular experiences in store. Experience ‘Trick or Treat’ in the shops, get some exciting face painting, take a ride on the Ghost Train, enjoy a concert with Funky Butts, try a walk through the Haunted House, discover the many lovely glowing bags in the dark, go on a treasure hunt – and enjoy many more Halloween experiences around the city.

The Ghost Train at Hjultorvet runs all afternoon and evening, offering a free and slightly spooky ride through the city centre. For children, there’s also the chance to go on a sweet hunt through selected shops as part of the popular Trick-or-Treat activity.

At 7.00 pm, the town gathers for the Halloween parade starting from Nytorv, and the evening wraps up at Hjultorvet.

One of the highlights is the grand Halloween parade, where participants in Halloween fancy dress walk through the pedestrianised streets carrying torches and wearing spooky costumes. The parade starts from Nytorv and is open to anyone who fancies joining in – both as spectators and participants.

Culture Night for children – and in the dark

In conjunction with Halloween, Culture Night offers everything from creative workshops and short film screenings to guided tours of the city’s historic buildings. Arsenalet, the old town hall and Elværket all provide the setting for experiences that combine Viborg’s cultural history with creativity and a cosy atmosphere.

Here, for example, you can experience artistic installations, take a look behind the scenes or take part in hands-on activities that spark the imagination.

Practical information

Halloween and Culture Night take place on Friday 2 October.

The activities take place throughout Viborg’s city centre, with key areas including Nytorv, Hjultorvet, the pedestrianised streets and the cultural institutions.

Most activities are free to take part in.

The parade and ghost train are open to everyone.

Several of the shops will remain open until 9.00 pm.

There are good parking facilities around the city centre, and many of the activities are accessible to pushchairs and people with mobility difficulties.
