In the sound work Things That Speak at Søbygaard, the Ærø-based composer and sound artist Mads Bech Paluszewski-Hau presents a special sound installation created from ordinary objects from Ærø. But what can objects actually tell us? What traces does everyday life leave behind? And what happens when objects become sound?

In the basement at Søbygaard, visitors can step into an atmospheric sound universe where different objects function as sound sources. Together they create a shared sonic landscape—almost like a choir of things that “speak” and share their stories.

The installation opens up a sensory world where everyday objects appear in a new way. Marks of use, time, and human presence become part of the work, giving the objects a kind of voice in the music.

The sound installation runs daily during Søbygaard’s opening hours. During the exhibition period, the work will also be activated live by the artist, where the sounds are shaped and evolve in the moment (April 26 – October 18, 2026).
