How do new perspectives emerge in the tension between the controlled and the organic? Galleri Sonja presents Perspectives, an exhibition by the design duo Atelier Cph. Using surplus textiles from the Dutch textile company By Mölle as its starting point, the duo explores the space between structure and spontaneity – between the controlled and the organic. For the exhibition, Atelier Cph has transformed deadstock linen into a series of new works in which fabric, form and line interact sensuously. Through sculptural objects and wall-based installations, the works explore the material’s inherent character and its ability to affect and challenge graphic compositions. The tactile quality of linen gives the works a lively dimension. Small irregularities and subtle tonal shifts break up the strict lines, creating a dynamic balance between order and chance. The result is an exhibition in which the material is not merely a link, but an active participant. Perspectives invites visitors to experience how contrasts can create new connections and how a material with a history can gain new life. About Atelier Cph: Sara Ingemann and Mandy Rep are behind the Copenhagen-based design studio Atelier Cph. The duo is known for a minimalist visual universe in which texture, depth and materiality play a central role, with an experimental approach to materials sourced from thrift shops, friends, family and nature, and an appreciation of objects that carry their own history. About By Mölle: By Mölle is named after the local Dutch word for “mill” and has its roots in the village of Dalfsen in eastern Netherlands. Here, textiles are made to order with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and responsible production. The historic windmill where the story began remains an important symbol for the company. As an image of both tradition and renewal, the mill reflects By Mölle’s close relationship with nature and dedication to simplicity, durability and local production.
