Experience Denmark's only 18th century festival with 150 volunteers in historical costumes. Take a fantastic journey back in time when Gammel Estrup Danmarks Herregårdsmuseum on Djursland opens the gates to the 18th century. Here you can experience a wild and fascinating period in history, where the difference between high and low was infinite.
Go on an exciting historical journey through time
Experience the enormous luxury and self-staging of the upper class with powdered wigs, tight dresses and whitened faces. Meet 18th-century peasants hawking their wares while jugglers and musicians fill the courtyard with noise and music.
Visit the stalls, see old-fashioned crafts and handicrafts and buy roast suckling pig and pancakes, smell the smoke and buy a glass of frothy beer from the innkeeper in ‘Nilles Kro’. Take a stroll in the garden and enjoy coffee in the Orangery.

Gammel Estrup Danish Manor Museum
Gammel Estrup Danmarks Herrregårdsmuseum is Denmark's only manor house museum where you can step into the history of the Danish manor houses. Since 1930, the museum has worked to preserve and develop Gammel Estrup, while at the same time communicating and researching the fascinating stories of the manor houses. Here you can gain insight into everything from magnificent architecture and beautiful landscapes to culture, history, agriculture and economy - both in Denmark and in an international perspective.
