The Angel Garden at Skovgaard Museum

Take a look at the beautiful Angel Garden at Skovgaard Museum, where you can participate in creating this year's Angel Garden. You can receive an angel at the museum on which you can write the name of a person you may miss. Subsequently, the angels are hung on Christmas trees in the garden.

Angel Garden

Since Christmas 2020, Skovgaard Museet has adorned the museum garden with sparkling lights, Christmas trees, and the familiar angels inspired by Joakim Skovgaard's decoration from Viborg Cathedral.

Christmas is a time when we also remember those who are no longer with us. Therefore, take a stroll through the garden and send a thought to someone you hold dear by writing their name on a white angel and hanging it on one of the many fir trees in the illuminated Angel Garden.

Christmas in the Museum

Viborg Museum and Skovgaard Museet have delved into their archives to gather art with holiday themes, as well as Christmas decorations and toys from bygone times, which they have compiled into the exhibition 'Erindringen om Jul' (Memory of Christmas).

Enjoy the cozy Christmas atmosphere at the old Baroque museum, Skovgaard Museet, and the opportunity to be inspired by Christmas from an era we now read about in history books. A time when, among others, Joakim Skovgaard was tasked with adorning Viborg Cathedral with biblical frescoes, including the Christmas gospel.

Closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th, and 31st of December, as well as on the 1st of January.
