Ringriding (tilting-at-the-ring) is known from the early 1800s as entertainment at village festivals, but when Duke Christian of Augustenborg celebrates his silver wedding anniversary with his consort, Duchess Louise, in 1845, he invites locals from all over the island of Als to participate and for the first time an event with 450 riders takes place.

Today, an annual ring riding competition is still held in the ducal town, where the ring riding association and the local volunteer fire brigade work together to create a pleasant weekend around the old tradition.

The programme for the square will be posted on Facebook by Augustenborg/Bro Frivillige Brandværn
