The Castle Route: Nyborg - Kerteminde
The Castle Route takes you from Nyborg to Kerteminde. The route is 26.6 km.
Note: Please follow the signs for The Castle Route between Nyborg and Kerteminde, as Route 40 was replaced by The Castle Route in 2022.
This stage offers a beautiful tour along the coast with the Great Belt Bridge in the background, beach, forest, and vineyard. The stage is 34 km long and, apart from a steep climb south of Kerteminde, there are not many elevation changes on this section of the route. The stage is on paved roads - unless you take a detour into the forest around Lundsgård Manor.
This stage is part of The Castle Route, which comprises 660 km of the most beautiful kilometers that Funen and the islands have to offer. You will encounter numerous sights, beautiful nature, cozy towns, wonderful places with food and drinks, and not least historic castles.
