Clapper

Rooted in Aarhus, Clapper unite soul and UK jazz with the energy of instrumental hip-hop. Their sound combines rhythmic precision with melodic freedom, driven by off-kilter grooves, tempo changes and collective improvisation. Since their debut album On Tempo (2023, Super Bad Disco / HHV) and the live release Under The Radar, the band have established themselves as a strong voice on the Scandinavian scene. The group consists of Frederik Emil Bülow on drums, Adrian Christensen on bass, Jeppe Lavsen on guitar and Malthe Jepsen on Rhodes and synths—four experienced musicians who also play in bands including Abekejser, Hvalfugl and İpek Yolu. Their energetic concerts offer razor-sharp grooves, intense changes of pace and infectious musical joy. At Svanekegaarden, they present music from their new album With Friends. Released on 6 November, With Friends expands CLAPPER’s characteristic sound with contributions from international guest artists including Walter Smith III, Sanyu, Musina Ebobisse, Mathias Heise, Oilly Wallace, Ronja Rose Andersson and Jonas Due. The guests will not appear at this concert, although several have previously performed at Svanekegaarden. In true CLAPPER style, the album fuses soul jazz with instrumental hip-hop and RnB, enriched by improvisation from some of today’s strongest musicians. With Friends embraces connection, trust and shared musical expression: this time, friendship is the front figure.
