Descend to the museum’s lower level and immerse yourself in a sensory world of colors, sounds, and lights that evoke the feeling of moving beneath the sea.

In 2026, the exhibition will feature new works by glass artist Steffen Dam and photographer Stig Stasig, blending contemporary art with stories of Denmark’s early divers and underwater work.

From the unknown sea to the first dives, the 19th century saw humans exploring only shallow waters. Early salvage companies used diving bells, air pumps, and simple suits to reach wrecks, while scientists and artists explored the underwater world through observation, stories, and imagination.

Drawn into the Deep invites reflection on the 19th century’s scientific, technological, and artistic breakthroughs and their lasting influence on how we experience the sea today.
