Anna, Emil and Jeppe met in Odense eight years ago and discovered that they were made for each other. The creative energy in their new friendship was truly unleashed on a subsequent summer-house trip that came to define their future. Their entrepreneurial egos were transformed from running in separate directions like three wild horses into pulling together as a team. They moved from envy to mutual respect and channelled their individual strengths into the community, writing 10 songs in a short time. With the boundaries removed, this was followed by 100 songs over the course of a year. The band of three close friends has won competitions organised by both Jelling Festival and Tinderbox, where jury and audience alike gave the majority of their votes to the trio. Their debut album produced a couple of radio hits, especially the single “Hvad vil du ha’”, after which the band wrote the World Cup song “Vi gør det hele igen” for the Danish women’s national football team. The band has performed live extensively, and in particular their appearance at SPOT Festival, support slots for artists including Love Shop, and summer festivals such as Smukfest, Wonderfestiwall, Jelling and Midtfyn have opened more doors for them. In 2026, the trio begins a new chapter with the release of new songs on several EPs, which will be brought together as an album. Anna – vocals, guitar. Anna grew up in Esbjerg with her father’s fascination for American hot rods, rockabilly and Lynyrd Skynyrd playing on the stereo. A concert by The Police in Aarhus was a turning point in her life, and that same day she bought a guitar and began pursuing her dreams. Anna has also been the drummer in a punk band and, when she was young, had green hair, studs and a mohawk as she rebelled against her cosy middle-class upbringing. Her inspirations include Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift, Lorde, Anne Linnet, Linda Perry, Portishead, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure and Fleetwood Mac. Emil – bass, guitar, keyboards. Like Anna, Emil grew up with Green Day in his teenage years, whose combination of energy and melody left its mark. “My dad took me to a Kashmir concert when I was 11, and it completely blew me away.” He grew up in a schoolteacher family and was sent to piano lessons in kindergarten with the strict Lilian. He later took up his father’s newly acquired guitar, which revealed a new direction for Emil. At 16, in true crowdsurfing style, he won the title of best guitarist at an Emergenza music competition; later, however, it was the bass that Emil truly fell in love with. Emil is influenced by Royal Blood, The Big Bang, D-A-D, Kashmir, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Simon & Garfunkel, Bonnie Light Horseman, Goldfish, Green Day, Diana Krall, Chet Baker and The Beatles. Jeppe – drums. Like Emil, Jeppe grew up in Odense in a world of music, and he was holding drumsticks before he could walk. At the age of 10, his heart truly began to beat for drums when he started lessons. Soon after, his parents spent their limited student grant on a drum kit, and his course was set. Since meeting Emil and Anna eight years ago, the beat has been firmly established, not least during the pandemic, when he played drums for up to five hours a day while the band could not meet and play together. His inspirations include Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Stanley Donwood, Michael Strunge, Kate Bush, Future Islands, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and Prince. The name Fräulein is pronounced “frøjlajn”. Despite the umlaut and diminutive ending in the name, the band is thoroughly Danish. They had been invited to meetings at several record labels and still had not found a band name when an incoming text message from a friend in Germany was mentioned while they were walking up the stairs to one of the meetings. Bonus information about Fräulein: “We are all huge nerds who love playing strange board games and PlayStation – and we are especially crazy about Star Wars. Another shared interest in the band is good coffee.”
