The image of "The Sea" is adorned with a quote from Henrik Ibsen. Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) was a Norwegian playwright and poet. He is considered one of the main authors of the Modern Breakthrough and one of the most important playwrights in European theater history.

Ibsen wrote around 300 poems and 26 plays. His plays are still relevant today and are performed on stages worldwide. After Shakespeare, Ibsen is probably the most performed playwright in the world.

The 5 works on Lodstorvet are a gift from the City Foundation to Frederikshavn in celebration of Frederikshavn's 200th anniversary as a market town.
