Two spectacular cliffs

Karlby Klint is connected to the even higher Sangstrup Klint. The two spectacular cliffs are only separated by a wide river valley.

Find fossils galore

At Karlby Klint there are fossils everywhere. On the beach itself, it's relatively easy to find fossilised sea urchins among the large amounts of flint that have been washed together in an impressively beautiful sea wall.

In addition to the beautiful fossils, it is also quite unique that the lower layer of the Danish limestone, the Bryozoic limestone, reaches all the way up to the surface here at the cliffs. As a result, significant flint finds from the Stone Age have been made.

Historical details

There are cannonball holes in several places along the 5 kilometre-long cliffs. The holes are said to date back to the English Wars, when German warships fired their cannons into the cliffs.
