Stay overnight in nature at the Midgård shelter site in Sillebro Ådal
The Midgård shelter site is located in the heart of Sillebro Ådal, a 1.8 km long and approximately 90-hectare nature and recreational area in central Frederikssund. Here, the valley landscape, lakes and paths are your closest neighbours, while the town is still close at hand. The area invites both peaceful stays and active days with walking, play and outdoor life. The Midgård shelter site is an ideal choice for those who want to stay overnight in nature without giving up easy access and facilities.
Shelters with space for both small and large groups
The Midgård shelter site consists of four closely situated shelters with a total capacity of up to 28 people. Three of the shelters – Valhal, Hugin and Sleipner – each accommodate six people, while the Munin shelter can accommodate up to ten people. In the surrounding area, there are also several other shelters with varying capacities, offering good options if you are a larger group or wish to use multiple separate overnight spots. The many options make the Midgård shelter site suitable for families, friends and organised groups alike.
Good facilities for outdoor living and stays
At the Midgård shelter site, you will find tables and benches as well as barbecue and campfire areas that invite shared cooking and cosy evenings. Firewood is supplied once a week, making it easy to light a fire. Water and toilets are available in a building approximately 100 metres from the shelter site by the allotment gardens at the end of Ågade. The facilities make it easy to enjoy outdoor life, whether your stay lasts one night or several days.
Easy access and experiences close by
The Midgård shelter site has good access conditions with parking at Ågade 56, from where there is about a 200-metre walk along a gravel path, as well as parking at the sports complex on Bonderupvej 2C with approximately 500 metres on foot. The area is also close to the Fjord Path, Regional Route 40, which is ideal for both cyclists and walkers and runs along Roskilde Fjord. An overnight stay at the Midgård shelter site can easily be combined with trips in the surrounding landscape.
Flexible overnight stays with booking options
The Midgård shelter site is free to use and operates on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to be sure of a place, the shelters can be booked via Friluftsguiden, where a booking gives priority upon presentation of a booking confirmation.
