Rudkøbing Parish Hall was built in 1843 and its former function as a town hall is emphasised by the large staircase surrounded by lamp columns leading up to the high ground floor. A bust of Frederik VII overlooks it all in a niche above.

The old market town and medieval city on Langeland impresses with its well-preserved buildings and original appearance. It was all the more unfortunate that the old neoclassical townhall was left unused and eventually fell into disrepair after being sold off in connection with the municipal reform in 2007.

Now, however, the building shines once again and lights up the historic town square. With a donation from the A.P. Møller Foundation, the listed building has been restored from top to bottom and returned to its original appearance and layout.
