Taste Limfjorden – from the water to the table!

If you enjoy seafood and gastronomy at a high level, then this small vacation on the beautiful island of Mors located in Limfjorden might be just the thing for you!
Nykøbing Mors is Denmark's Seafood Capital and here you will be taken all the way around the topic of seafood - from waterfront safaris to a masterclass at the Danish Seafood Center, where you will learn to compose a 3-course menu. You will be staying at the historic Sallingsund Færgekro, which is located right down to Limfjorden in the scenic area of Legindbjerge. The whole stay gets spiced with storytelling and experiences on a high level.

On this luxurious mini vacation, that takes place in and around the city of Nykøbing Mors - Denmark's Seafood Capital, you will get the ultimate sensory and tasting experience. On the day of arrival you start out with a waterfront safari, where you are allowed to harvest your own oysters and of course taste the delights. A glass of bubbles will be served along the way.

In the same evening a 2-course menu with fine wines and even finer views of Limfjorden is served. The menu is prepared from scratch and with local ingredients.

On the second day you start with a walk in the old historic market town that is Nykøbing Mors. After a delicious lunch at Restaurant Limfjorden, Nykøbing's oldest restaurant located right by the harbor, the trip goes to the Danish Shellfish Center. Here you will get a tour and the know how of breeding oysters, mussels and lobsters as well as hearing about the center's research in seafood and seaweed among other things.
In the following evening you will get perhaps the biggest highlight of the trip - namely a Masterclass in the Danish Shellfish Centers very own kitchen. Here you will together with the chef from Sallingsund Færgekro, prepare a delicious 3-course menu with all the goods from Limfjorden. Accompanying the meal will be some good wines and recipes are handed out.

On the third day, there is the check-out from the room, but there is still the opportunity to experience the best of what the island of Mors has to offer. It is possible to go hiking in the nature area Legind Bjerge, where you can get a hiking card handed out at the reception at Sallingsund Færgekro. You can also visit one of the exciting museums on the island such as Molermuseet, Dueholm Kloster or Støberimuseet to which a ticket is included in the price of the event.

Day 1:
2 pm: Arrival and check-in at Sallingsund Færgekro.

3pm: Waterfront safari.
It will be a sensuous walk along the Limfjord, where Limfjord stories will be told and about how to use fish, shellfish and seaweed from the fjord in cooking.
You get the opportunity to harvest oysters and of course taste the delights. A glass of bubbly is served along the way. The innkeeper and our chef tell and guide on the trip.

6:30 pm: A delicious 2-course menu with local ingredients is served. A glass of lovely wine is served with each dish.

Overnight stay and breakfast the next day.

Day 2:

11am: Tour of the city in the old parts of Nykøbing Mors with special focus on the harbor area and the historic shellfish industry.

12.30pm: After the tour of the city, we move down to Nykøbing's oldest restaurant, - Restaurant Limfjorden, which is beautifully situated by the city harbor. Mussels are steamed in the cozy courtyard behind the restaurant, and mussels are enjoyed with a beer / water or a glass of wine.

4 pm: Visit to the Danish Shellfish Center, which is part of the Technical University of Denmark. Here you will get an exciting tour and the knowledge about how they breed oysters, mussels and lobsters and hear about the center's research in seafood and seaweed among other things.

5.30pm: Masterclass at Danish Shellfish Center. A 3-course menu is prepared from good ingredients from Limfjorden, which includes oysters, mussels, crabs and seaweed. All this under the expert guidance of innkeeper Jens-Peter Skov and head chef Bob Trinkjær. The food is enjoyed afterwards along with more knowledge about the dishes will be told like their background and recipes will be handed out. 3 glasses of lovely wines are served to the menu

10pm: Drive back to Sallingsund Færgekro.

Overnight stay and breakfast the next day.

Day 3:

11am: Check out. If you still want more of the brilliant island of Mors, it is possible to go for a long walk in the historic area Legind Mountains. Maps of the various trails in the area can be provided. You can also experience the various museums of Mors, Fossil- og Molermuseet, Dueholm Kloster or Dansk Støberimuseum, 1 free ticket is included in the total price.


Practical information:

The tours are completed with a minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 20 participants.
Final notice will be given no later than 4 weeks before the event about if the trip is to be completed.
It is a really good idea to bring warm clothes and good hiking shoes for the various trips.
