The Duke's Trail in Augustenborg
Discover the ducal town of Augustenborg, currently undergoing restoration, on a stroll through its historic streets lined with houses from different eras.

The ducal town has a building history stretching back more than 300 years. When the Duke built Augustenborg Palace, an entire town sprang up around it, comprising homes for court officials, craftsmen and merchants. Today, the restoration fund, Hertugbyens Restaureringspulje is working to restore this unique cultural environment by restoring around 60 buildings worthy of preservation and listed as historic monuments.
Explore Hertugbyen Augustenborg and experience the restoration of the historic houses at your own pace. The 1.8 km-long Duke’s Trail takes you along Storegade and Slotsallé, around Augustenborg Palace, through the palace grounds and down past the Augustiana art museum. The entire route lies at the heart of the distinctive cultural environment that developed around the Duke’s court.
Along the way, you’ll pass the buildings currently being restored as part of the Hertugbyens Restaureringspulje. Here you can observe the work being carried out using traditional craftsmanship, and at the building sites, information boards tell you more about the history of the houses and the restoration work.
