Langeland is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark ‘The South Funen Archipelago’, and traces of the Ice Age are visible in many places across the island. You can experience the characteristic hat-shaped hills, the international geosite Ristinge Klint, the submerged Ice Age landscape at Lindelse Nor and the fantastic wild nature at the Skovsgaard Nature Destination.
Langeland is the archipelago’s hotspot for water activities
On Langeland, the sea is never more than 5 km away, making Langeland ideal for those who want to combine relaxation with water activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, sea kayaking, coastal fishing, windsurfing and beach surfing, or simply a quiet break with a view of the archipelago.
Culture, history and charming towns on Langeland
Langeland is more than just nature. The island also offers a market-town atmosphere, castle history, art, local tales and small towns, each with its own character. In Langeland’s largest town, Rudkøbing, you can explore the old cobbled streets and the well-preserved town centre, whilst the castle town of Tranekær combines history, castle and landscape. The Cold War Museum, Langelandsfortet, is one of Langeland’s biggest attractions and offers a fascinating insight into the history of the Cold War for both children and adults. Across Langeland, you’ll also find arts and crafts, music, cultural scenes and a wealth of historical sites, adding depth to your holiday and making it easy to switch between nature, culture and relaxation.

Langeland is ideal for both weekend breaks and longer stays. You can reach Langeland by public transport and direct bus from Copenhagen. Around Langeland, you can combine transport by bike, walking, bus and car, depending on how much you want to explore.
