Nekselø is a small, car-free island of just over 2 km² in Sejerø Bay, with only a handful of residents. It has been protected since 1951 to preserve its species-rich, distinctive vegetation, and the hilly Ice Age landscape of dry grassland, slopes and beaches feels untouched – some call it one of Denmark's most beautiful islands. The ferry from Havnsø takes about 20 minutes and mainly carries foot passengers. On Nekselø there is little more than peace, nature and wide views – an oasis for walkers, birdwatchers and anyone seeking quiet.
